New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) India’s consumer price inflation (CPI) for April eased further to 4.87 percent from 5.17 percent in March on the back of fall in commodity and crude oil prices, government data showed on Tuesday.
The April CPI was considerably down from 8.48 percent recorded in the corresponding month of 2014.
The CPI urban for the month stood at 4.36 percent and rural at 5.37 percent.
April food inflation also declined and stood at 5.11 percent compared to the previous month’s rate of 6.14 percent, and the rate of 9.21 percent in the corresponding month of last year, said the Central Statistics Office.
