Vijayawada, June 2 (IANS) While Telangana celebrated its formation day on Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh observed the day as ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ (vow for reconstruction).
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday addressed a public meeting and administered an oath for reconstruction to mark the occasion.
He said Telugu Desam Party (TDP) alone can reconstruct the state and urged the central government to extend all assistance to ensure that Andhra Pradesh develop at par with neighbouring states.
Reiterating that bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was not done in a fair manner and that injustice was done to the state, he targeted the Congress for dividing a united state of Telugu people for political mileage. He also hit out at YSR Congress party and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for colluding with Congress in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana respectively.
Naidu launched a bitter attack on Congress president Sonia Gandhi for announcing formation of Telangana state on her birthday and carving out the separate state on the Independence Day of Italy.
Listing out the achievements of his government during last one year, he appealed to people to work hard and rededicate themselves to rebuild the state. He said people should draw inspirations from countries like Japan, Germany, Singapore and South Korea, which overcame all odds to achieve development.
‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ was held across Andhra Pradesh. Ministers and top TDP leaders participated in the programmes in all 13 districts.
Naidu clarified that ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ is not against Telangana. He claimed that TDP is committed to work for justice, development and prosperity of all Telugu people.
He pointed out that he has directed TDP leaders in Telangana to participate in Telangana formation day celebrations.
The TDP chief once again offered to work with Telangana government to sort out all outstanding issues between the two states in an amicable manner through talks.
