Kingston (Jamaica), June 13 (IANS) With the wicket of West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite midway through Day 2 of the second Test, Nathan Lyon became the most successful off-spinner in Australian Test cricket history.

Lyon, who debuted in 2011 and is playing his 41st Test, overtook Hugh Trumble with his 142nd Test wicket as he clean bowled Brathwaite to leave the West Indies in trouble at 9/2 in response to Australia’s first innings total of 399, reports cricket.com.au.
The 27-year-old took 1/20 and 2/67 in the first Test in Dominica to draw level with Trumble, but typically the offie downplayed the significance of passing a record that has stood for 111 years when he spoke ahead of last week’s series opener.
“I’m not worried about personal numbers. I’ll sit back at the end of my career with my family and friends and have a beer over that. I’m worried about winning the Test series for Australia. That’s all I care about,” Lyon had said.
