Mumbai, June 17 (IANS) Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Sharad Pawar defeated his challenger and outgoing vice president Vijay Patil to retain his post in the MCA biennial elections here on Wednesday.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo, backed by the Bal Mahaddalkar group, beat Patil by 27 votes to hold on to his domination in Mumbai cricket.
Pawar – has been MCA president for the last 14 years – got 172 votes, while Patil got 145.
Patil was backed by Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray.
