Agartala, June 23 (IANS) Tripura Forests Minister Naresh Jamatia has said that Sepahijala Zoo in the state and Bannerghatta Zoo and National Park in Bengaluru will soon exchange animals.
“According to the agreement, Bannerghatta zoo would provide two lions, three black bucks, two Sambars and two porcupines,” the forests minister told reporters here on Monday night.
He also said that Sepahijala zoo would provide three spectacled Langurs, three pig-tailed Macaque and two Himalayan Black Bears to Bannerghatta zoo.
Karnataka’s Bannerghatta National Park was founded in 1971.
The minister said both zoos have secured the necessary approvals for the animal exchange programme from the Central Zoo Authority.
Last year, Visakhapatnam’s Indira Gandhi Zoological Park and the Sepahijala Zoo had also exchanged animals.
