Patna, Sep 16 (Inditop.com) An upper caste body in Bihar Wednesday threatened to launch protests against the Nitish Kumar government’s failure to recover a Class 1 student who was kidnapped here at gunpoint two days ago.

Shresth Sanjay, 6, was abducted in the heart of Patna while he was on his way to Christ Church School Monday, but police have failed to make any breakthrough in the case.

“A hunt has been launched to look for the boy but there has been no breakthrough,” a police officer said.

Kayastha Chitrgupta Sena, a body representing Kayastha upper castes, declared it would stage protests across the state and call for a statewide shutdown if the government failed to recover the boy in 48 hours.

“We will be forcd to protest against the government if police fail to safely recover the boy,” Sena chief Akhilesh Kumar Srivastava said. He said the authorities tended to ignore such incidents as the Kayasthas were a peace loving community and did not resort to protests.

Shresth’s father Sanjay Kumar Srivastav is a zonal manager in a pharmaceutical company. The boy was kidnapped near Maurya Hotel Monday morning when three armed criminals overtook the autorickshaw he was travelling in and forced the driver to stop.

The boy’s family has reportedly said they have not received a ransom call so far. But police suspect it is a case of kidnapping for ransom.

The father of the boy has appealed to the abductors to release his son.

The Sena said if Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s claims of good administration or ‘sushasan’ were true, then the kidnapped boy should be recovered at the earliest.

Neelmani, additional director of police, said a special team has been created under the supervision of Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Vineet Vinayak.

Police have raided several places in and around Patna and the neighbouring districts of Vaishali, Bhojpur, Buxar and Saran to recover the boy, an official said.

“Police have picked up some people close to a relative of Srivastava’s domestic help for interrogation,” a police source said.

Police have also detained Ravi Kumar, the driver of the autorickshaw for interrogation. Kumar told police the criminals forced him to stop the autorickshaw by threatening to kill the children in the vehicle. Then they kidnapped the boy.
