Dharamsala, July 15 (IANS) The Tibetan parliament-in-exile on Wednesday condoled the death of Tibetan political prisoner and spiritual figure Tulku Tenzin Delek Rinpoche in a Chinese prison and accused the communist country of “violating human rights in Tibet”.
“We are deeply saddened by the untimely death of Tulku Tenzin Delek Rinpoche (on July 12). The Chinese government has repeatedly violated all universal human rights in Tibet,” the Tibetan parliament said in a statement.
It also urged the Chinese government to return the Rinpoche’s body to his family members and disciples, to allow them to arrange for his last rites according to Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
The Tibetan administration is based in this northern Indian hill town of Himachal Pradesh.
