Jammu, July 19 (IANS) The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed on Sunday as heavy rain triggered landslides in Ramban district of Jammu region.
“Landslides triggered by heavy rain in Panthal and two other places in Ramban districts have led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway,” a senior official of the state traffic department told IANS.
“Road restoration operations are on and we are hopeful the highway will be re-opened today (Sunday) itself,” he said.
“All the vehicles and passengers travelling on the highway are safe. Those intending to undertake the journey are advised to get in touch with our traffic control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar before the journey,” he added.
