New Delhi, July 21 (IANS) The Delhi government will call a special session of the Delhi assembly on July 28 to discuss women’s safety in the national capital, informed sources said on Tuesday.
A commission of inquiry on women’s safety was also under the consideration of the Aam Aadmi Party government, the sources told IANS.
The brutal stabbing of a 19-year-old girl on July 16 in Anand Parbat in central Delhi has again brought the issue of women’s safety into focus, pitting the Arvind Kejriwal government against Delhi Police.
The government has accused the police — which does not report to it — of callousness vis-a-vis the murder and blamed it for what it said was the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi.
