Seville (Spain), July 22 (IANS) Sevilla’s newest addition Mariano Ferreira of Brazil has said that he arrived at the football club’s doors with “great ambition to compete”.
The 29-year-old defender on Tuesday noted during his presentation ceremony that his stint with the Spanish club comes at the “climax” of his career, and he described himself as a right back who “likes to play ahead and help teammates”, Efe reported.
Getting a chance to play once again with French defender Benoit Tremoulinas also excited the Brazilian player, as the two won the French Cup with Bordeaux just a few years ago.
The new Sevilla player thanked his fans for the warm welcome he received when he arrived at the stadium on Monday, “which shows the greatness of that strong club, which always plays to win championships”.
Mariano recalled his compatriot Daniel Alves, the player who performed so well with Sevilla and Barcelona and has become “an important example” for him.
Sevilla president Jose Castro, who attended the presentation, congratulated the player and welcomed the return of the Brazilian players in the right back position, hoping that Mariano would perform well with his new club.
