Kabul, Sep 17 (DPA) A suicide attack against an Italian military vehicle shook the Afghan capital Kabul Thursday, leaving at least two people dead, witnesses and officials said.
A spokesman of the public health ministry told DPA the bodies of two civilians had been brought to a hospital. Thirty-eight people were wounded, he added.
A policeman at the scene of the attack in the eastern part of the city on a road leading to Kabul’s international airport, who asked not to be named, said the bombing targeted an Italian military vehicle.
He said he believed there had also been casualties among the international soldiers, but could not say whether there had been any fatalities.
The explosion destroyed at least five cars and damaged buildings on both sides of the road.
Camps of international forces in Afghanistan are located in the area.
Earlier this month, a Taliban suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden vehicle close to a NATO convoy near the military base at Kabul airport, also in the eastern part of the city, killing several civilians.
