Bangalore, Sep 20 (Inditop.com) The tiff between actress Ramya and technicians and dancers of the Karnataka film industry has been resolved with the actress apologising for her allegedly abrasive behaviour.
Ramya issued a statement to the media apologising to the Karnataka Dancers Association as well as as the film’s actor-director Sudeep and producer Shankar Gowda.
“My special apologies are due to Sudeep who has done excellent work as a director and actor in this film. I had no intention to hurt you, please excuse me. I respect all of you because I am also a woman who is working in the industry for recognition,” she said in the statement.
The issue was resolved after the members of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce convinced Ramya to apologise in a three-hour meeting Saturday night.
Dancers have been angry ever since Ramya walked out of a song shoot of her film “Just Maath Maathnalli”. Apart from directing the film Sudeep also plays the lead role opposite Ramya.
The actress has also reportedly been accused of using foul language against producer Gowda, who said Ramya’s attitude has harmed the film.
Sources said that Ramya remained defiant throughout the meeting, but she had to apologise when the dancers association produced relevant records to prove her high handedness.
Sources in the meeting told the Inditop that though dancers and Gowda were unwilling to accept the apology from Ramya, producers like Rockline Venkatesh, K. Manju, Munirathna and N.M. Suresh convinced them to bury the hatchet.
Rajesh Brahmavar, president of the dancers association, said they are still unhappy about Ramya’s rude behaviour though they had agreed to compromise.
Sudeep said that artists should ensure such incidents don’t occur on film sets in future. “I think by insulting the dancers and dance director, Ramya has actually insulted her profession. Such a thing should not have happened,” he said.
He added that Ramya would not be part of the film anymore.
