Allahabad, Sep 20 (Inditop.com) Three men were arrested with huge quantity of explosives from Shankergarh area of the Allahabad district Sunday, police said.
About 400 kg of ammonium nitrate, over 400 detonators and fuse wires were seized from the possession of the three men in Shankergarh, which is on the border with Madhya Pradesh.
“People are given license in that area to procure and use explosives for blasting purpose but there are some criminals involved in illegal smuggling of huge quantities of explosives from across Madhya Pradesh. The arrested men are being interrogated to find the exact destination of the explosives,” Deputy Inspector General of Police (Allahabad Range) Chandra Prakash told Inditop over phone.
However, according to sources, the accused were smuggling the explosives to the state’s Mirzapur district, 70 km from Allahabad. Mirzapur also shares boundary with Madhya Pradesh and is one of the Naxal affected districts of the Poorvanchal region of the state.
