Amritsar, Sep 21 (Inditop.com) Congress activists Monday put up posters claiming that cricketer-turned-politician and Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu was “missing” and also filed a police complaint.

Congress leader and former legislator Raj Kumar Verka told Inditop that the posters of the ‘missing’ Sidhu had been put up outside government buildings and other prominent places across this city, 250 km from state capital Chandigarh.

“I have even lodged an online complaint with the Civil Lines police station here for registration of an FIR (first information report) as our MP is missing from here for a long time,” Verka said.

Sidhu retained the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate in the April-May general elections.

“He has not been to his constituency ever since getting elected (in May). He made falser promises to the people of Amritsar. He has to be accountable for that. If he cannot come for the sake of his voters, he should immediately resign,” Verka said.

Sidhu, who has been involved with TV news channels as a cricket expert and also figures in various comedy shows on different channels, is reported to be shooting in Mumbai and Delhi in recent days.

“At a time when terrorists are firing rockets into villages in Amritsar district, Sidhu has shown no concern or visited this place to even found out how people are suffering. He has vanished after taking votes of people,” Verka said.

Sidhu, who first got elected from this Lok Sabha seat in May 2004 with a margin of over 110,000 votes, barely scraped through in the 2009 general elections, winning with just over 7,300 votes.

Sidhu could not be reached for comments.
