Mumbai, Sep 25 (Inditop.com) The benchmark index of the Indian stock markets opened weak Friday and was down 128 points within five minutes.

The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange opened at 16,679.99 points, lower than its closing figure of 16,781.43 points Thursday.

Within the first five minutes it was at 16,693 points, 128.4 points or 0.77 percent lower than its previous close.

Around the same time, the broader S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was at 4,927.15 points, 0.47 percent below its previous close at 4,986.55 points.

Broader market indices were, however, holding up with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.05 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index up 0.18 percent.
