Mumbai, Sep 30 (Inditop.com) The Shiv Sena Wednesday sacked 10 rebels contesting against its official candidates in the Oct 13 Maharashtra assembly elections and four others who it said were sabotaging the party’s chances.

According to an official announcement, the orders to sack the rebels and others sabotaging the party were issued by executive president Udhav Thackeray on the advice of Sena chief Bal Thackeray Tuesday night.

Those removed from the party are — Uday Bandhu Patil and Shankar Nam (Thane), Shantaram Mathkar and Hanumant Pingle (Raigad), Pradeep Jaiswal and Anna Shinde (Aurangabad), Suresh Jadhav (Parbhani), Navnath Shirale (Beed), Vijay Malokar (Akola) and Eknath Mahajan (Jalgaon).

Also sacked are Anil Bonde, Sidharth Wankhede, Vinay Wanore and Avinash Gaigole from Amravati.

Tuesday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations and the party found many of its official candidates being confronted by rebels.

Other parties have also promised action against rebels in their ranks.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state president R.R. Patil had said strict action would be taken against rebels challenging official candidates in different parts of the state.

Though the Congress-NCP managed to curb rebellion to some extent, a former minister Sunil Deshmukh – who is contesting against Rajendrasingh Shekhawat in Amravati – continues to embarrass and alarm the state party leadership. Shekhawat is the son of President Pratibha Patil.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also warned of stern action against the rebels.
