Amethi (Uttar Pradesh), April 12 (Inditop) Priyanka Gandhi, daughter of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Sunday said she was not averse to plunging into politics, but in the same breath added that this was not something she wants to do.
Replying to questions from reporters in Amethi, where she is campaigning for her brother Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka said: “As I am growing older I have realised ‘never’ is a bad thing to say… I am not going to say ‘never’… but I don’t think that is what I want to do.”
Priyanka said she was only helping her mother and brother Rahul in electioneering. Rahul Gandhi is contesting from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Asked about her statements, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said in New Delhi that there is nothing wrong if she is seeking a role in the party. “She is part of the Congress family,” he said, adding that it was Priyanka Gandhi’s prerogative to join active politics.
