Hyderabad, Oct 2 (Inditop.com) It is not just the common man who is trapped in the flood waters in Andhra Pradesh but MPs, state legislators and other public representatives too are hit by the natural calamity.
In the worst-hit Kurnool district, at least three legislators are among the affected people. While one legislator is trapped in Mantralayam town, water gushed into the houses of two other legislators and one MP in Kurnool town.
Balanagi Reddy of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a legislator from Mantralayam, is among those trapped in the marooned town. He told a news TV channel on phone that only 60 out of 1,200 houses in the town could be seen.
Flood waters have also entered the house of Kurnool MP K. Suryaprakash Reddy, who is the son of former chief minister K. Vijayabhaskar Reddy. He, along with his family members, have moved to a safer place.
T.G. Venkatesh, a legislator of the ruling Congress party in Kurnool town, is also among the affected people.
The floods have not spared the rich and powerful in Kurnool town. In VIP Colony, TDP legislator and former state minister K.E. Prabhakar had to wade through waist-deep water to reach a safer place. So did Kurnool mayor Raghurami Reddy.
However, political leaders have not stopped playing the blame game. Prabhakar said Kurnool town was facing a serious threat due to the negligence of the state government. “The government should have released water from Srisailam dam a few days ago to prevent this disaster,” he maintained.
