Mumbai, Oct 5 (Inditop.com) A key index of the Indian equities markets Monday ended near the day’s lowest levels, losing 1.62 percent from its last closing figure.
The 30-scrip benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, which opened at 17,062.01 points, shut shop at 16,856.67 points (provisional), down 277.88 points or 1.62 percent from Thursday’s closing figure of 17,134.55 points.
The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too ended marginally in the red at 5,003.8 points, down 1.57 percent.
Broader market indices also ended on the losing side, with the BSE midcap index shedding 1.64 percent and the BSE smallcap index closing 2.11 percent down.
