Hyderabad, Oct 7 (Inditop.com) The Andhra Pradesh government Wednesday removed controversial police officer S.S.P. Yadav as the director general of police and appointed Girish Kumar as the new state police chief.
The move came after Yadav made controversial remarks following the death of chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash Sep 2.
Yadav was transferred on the orders of the Election Commission of India for praising the state government in April but was reinstated by YSR when he became chief minister for the second term in May.
After YSR’s death in a helicopter crash, Yadav had stated that the responsibility of the police ends when the CM boards the chopper.
He also came under criticism for the police failure to track the missing chopper for 24 hours.
Chief Minister K. Rosaiah signed the orders transferring Yadav as managing director of state road transport corporation.
Girish Kumar, who was heading the anti-corruption bureau, took over as the new DGP.
