Panaji, Oct 7 (Inditop.com) A 16-year-old boy was shot in the face and his thigh with an air-gun several times in Canacona, Goa, for allegedly stealing Rs.10,000, police said Wednesday.
The police late Tuesday evening arrested three people – Jasani (28), Richard Rodrigues (35) and Sarvesh Dhuri (28), all residents of South Goa – in connection with the incident. They have been booked under the Goa Children’s Act for assaulting a minor and kidnapping him.
Speaking to Inditop, a police spokesperson said the boy had already been discharged from hospital and was safe.
“The pellets have already been extracted from the face and his thigh. We have also recovered the air-gun used in the shooting,” an official said. The boy was working for Jasani, who ran a shack in Canacona, about 80 km from here, and allegedly ran off with Rs.10,000 last month.
“Some days back the accused learnt that the boy was near the Moti Dongor area in Margao, where he rushed with his accomplices, kidnapped him and took him near his shack, where he beat him up and shot him, before releasing him again,” the official said.
While the incident occurred Sep 29, it came to light only after the boy was admitted to hospital after he reported acute pain in his head and leg to his parents.
“He was then taken to hospital on Tuesday, where the doctor detected the pellet in his head with the help of an x-ray. The police were informed about the incident only then,” officials attached to the Margao police station said.
