Dubai, Oct 9 (Inditop.com) The leaders of the petroleum and chemical industries in the Gulf region will meet here Dec 8-10 to discuss the impact of the economic crisis as well as other global and regional issues, WAM news agency reported Friday.

More than 1,000 delegates from across the world are expected to attend the Fourth Annual Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Forum conference here in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“Industry leaders and experts will assess the impact of the economic crisis on the Middle East and look at the industry’s future beyond the current downturn,” Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, secretary general of Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), said.

Saudi Arabia’s Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi would deliver the opening keynote address.

Al-Sadoun said 11 sessions would be held at the meeting to focus on the key issues of the industries. These include: The impact of the economic crisis on the Middle East, growth of the chemical industry with competitively priced feedstock and cost cutting as a way to create value in an economic crisis.

Stephen Pryor, president of ExxonMobil Chemicals and Klaus Engel, chairman of Evonik Industries will attend the meeting, among others. Private equity executives, bankers, financiers and consultants will also participate.

“We have a great line-up of speakers headed by Al-Naimi whose insights on the industry and current regional and global trends will be invaluable,” said Al-Sadoun.
