Rawalpindi, Oct 10 (Inditop.com) A shootout took place near the Pakistan Army headquarters in the garrison town of Rawalpindi Saturday, media reports said.

The firing started when security personnel tried to intercept a vehicle near the army headquarters on the Mall road.

Geo TV said the soldiers surrounded the vehicle and retaliated when the militants in the vehicle started firing at the security personnel.

A loud explosion was also heard at the site, the report said citing an eyewitness.

Another media report said at least five hand grenades were hurled at the security personnel from the vehicle. The officials have, meanwhile, cordoned off the area.

The gunmen were dressed in army uniforms, it said.
