Raipur, Oct 10 (Inditop.com) The Chhattisgarh government will construct 27 irrigation projects at the cost of Rs.19.64 billion to boost agriculture production in the state.
The projects will come up in paddy-rich areas of Bilaspur, Raigarh, Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Janjgir-Champa, Dhamtari and Mahasamund districts, an official statement said Saturday.
The water resources department will complete the construction work by June 2010. Officials say about 70 percent of the cultivated area is entirely dependent on monsoon.
Meanwhile, the state government said it has given Rs.8 billion farm loan so far at the interest rate of three percent.
The government had last week announced that it wants to bring agriculture interest loan down to zero percent from the existing three percent.
