Panaji, April 14 (Inditop) The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Goa unit has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Congress general secretary B.K. Hariprasad for “criminally abusive and derogatory” remarks against former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the party’s prime ministerial candidate L. K. Advani. The party also plans to file a police case.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Leader of Opposition in the Goa legislative assembly Manohar Parrikar said that the language used by the Congress leader was “provocative” and “criminal”.
“The BJP is not going to tolerate such language against our senior most leaders. We have filed a complaint with the chief electoral officer (CEO). By evening a First information Report (FIR) will also be filed against B.K. Hariprasad. He should think before he uses such words,” he said.
Hariprasad, who was in Goa Sunday to sort out squabbles between local Congress leaders, had said that both Vajpayee and Advani should be dumped into the Arabian Sea on account of their old age.
His statement came as a reaction to Narendra Modi’s speech during an election rally in Karnataka earlier, where the Gujarat chief minister had exhorted the people of Karnataka to “uproot and throw away” the Congress which was “a burden on the country, because it is an old hag”.
