Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 12 (Inditop.com) Coast Guard personnel Monday evacuated a seriously injured sailor from an oil tanker on the high seas.
According to a defence release here, John Ian Pujanes, 34, a crew member of oil tanker MV Spotless, on way to Fujiera in the United Arab Emirates, was critically injured while working in the ship’s slope tank.
The master of the oil tanker sent a distress message to the Coast Guard Maritime Search and Rescue Centre in Mumbai, which passed on the information to its station at Vizhinjam.
Immediately the Coast Guard ship C-134 was despatched and brought Pujanes here. The sailor, who is a citizen of the Philippines, was admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College and Hospital here for treatment.
