New Delhi, Oct 12 (Inditop.com) A few hours after a seven-year-old boy was kidnapped outside his east Delhi home, police in neighbouring Faridabad town Monday found his body in a car being driven by his relative, who was then arrested.
Gulshan Jain alias Sonu, a class 1 student, was kidnapped when he was playing outside his Krishna Nagar house Sunday evening. His father Mahender Jain, who runs a garment business, lodged a missing person complaint with police around 7.30 p.m.
The police said after preliminary investigations and search, a case of kidnapping was registered at the Krishna Nagar police station.
“As we were searching for the boy, around 2.30 in the morning we received a message from the Faridabad police that while checking vehicles they came across a car carrying the dead body of the child. The driver, Pradeep Goyal, was arrested,” a Delhi Police officer said.
“We then sent our personnel to identify the boy. The Faridabad police are now getting the post-mortem of the child and further investigating the matter. We would also take the custody of the accused on a production warrant once the police of the neighbouring state finish their investigation,” the officer said.
The police in the capital said they were not aware how the child was murdered and the sequence of events.
“We are yet to speak to Goyal, who is a relative of Jain’s father. Our initial investigations suggest that Goyal was under huge debt and to pay it off, he abducted the child for ransom. He might have murdered the child in fear that the boy would reveal his identity and he would be arrested,” the officer added.
