New Delhi, Oct 15 (Inditop.com) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Thursday said its services would be curtailed on Diwali Saturday and the last train would be at 8.00 p.m.

“On account of the Diwali festival the last Metro train service on Saturday (Oct 17 ), will start at 8.00 p.m. from terminal stations of all the three lines (Dilshad Garden- Rithala, Jahangir Puri-Central Secretariat, and Dwarka Sector-9 – Yamuna Bank Metro stations),” DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.

“Metro train services will run as usual for rest of the day on Diwali from 6.00 a.m. onwards. The Metro feeder bus services will be from 6.00 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. that day.”

The services are being curtailed as lower footfall is expected on the festival day.

The DMRC also said that services would be extended on Monday when another festival Bhai Dooj is celebrated.

“Since we expect a rise in the number of commuters using the Delhi Metro on Monday, which is Bhai Dooj, DMRC will operate its trains at peak frequency from 8.00 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. that day,” Dayal informed.

The DMRC will also open extra ticket counters and deploy additional staff at important stations. Last year on Bhai Dooj, the number of passengers had increased by 46 percent above normal, Dayal said.
