Mumbai, Oct 16 (Inditop.com) A key Indian equities index extended its gains around Friday noon and was ruling 0.75 percent higher than its previous closing figure.
At 12.04 p.m., the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened higher at 17,196.8 points, was ruling at 17,324.97 points — 129.77 points or 0.75 percent higher than Thursday’s close at 17,195.2 points.
Around the same time, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), too was trading in the positive at 5,141.45 points, up 0.64 percent.
Mid-to-small capitalised company scrips also found favour among buyers, pushing the BSE midcap index 1.04 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index 0.8 percent up.
The market breadth was positive, with 1,541 stocks advancing, 1,038 declining and 98 remaining unchanged.
Among gainers at this time on the Sensex were SBI, up 4.31 percent at Rs.2,431; DLF, up 3.77 percent at Rs.449.70; HDFC, up 2.4 percent at Rs.2,837.8, and ICICI Bank, up 2.25 percent at Rs.957.
Among the losers were Sterlite, down 5.77 percent at Rs.818; ITC, down 1.43 percent at Rs.252.20; Tata Steel, down 1.38 percent at Rs.566.80; M&M, down 1.1 percent at Rs.951.50.
Other Asian markets were flat.
The Nikkei, a key index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, closed 18.91 points or 0.18 percent lower at 10,257.56 points.
The primary index of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hang Seng, was ruling 17.99 points or 0.08 percent higher at 22,017.07 points.
At the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the composite index was ruling 0.11 percent down at 2,976.63 points.
The Kospi, benchmark index of the Korean Stock Exchange, was further in the red at 1,640.36 points, down 18.63 points or 1.12 percent.
