Amritsar, Oct 18 (Inditop.com) Zillions of lights, tens of thousands of devout and a scintillating fireworks display were part of the Diwali celebrations at the holiest of Sikh shrines Harmandar Sahib (popularly called Golden Temple).

The Golden Temple complex was Saturday night decorated with lighting on every inch of space and in the midst of singing of Sikh religious hymns, hundreds of devout became part of the celebration.

A fireworks display was also organised to mark the occasion.

“I have been to the shrine many times before but this celebration gives an entirely different feeling. Even though the place is choked with people, the atmosphere is heavenly,” said businessman Rajbir Singh.

Volunteers of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) were present in large numbers to control the crowds and ensure that everything went on smoothly.

People lined up for hours to pay obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum.
