Ranchi, Oct 21 (Inditop.com) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Hemant Soren Wednesday said his party will break its alliance with the Congress and fight the assembly elections in the state alone.

“In the given scenario, JMM is not interested in any alliance in the state. The party will go alone in the election,” Soren, who is son of party chief Shibu Soren, told reporters.

The Congress-JMM alliance fought the 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections together. Both parties also had a pact during the 2005 assembly elections.

“We believe that the party will perform well if we fight the election alone,” Soren said.

The state is under President’s Rule and the assembly polls are expected in December or January.

Soren also opposed the central government’s move to raise the cut-off marks for Indian Institute of Technology admission tests to 80 percent.

“We oppose any such move. We cannot tolerate that poor and tribal students are not allowed to appear in the examination on the basis of marks” Soren said.
