New Delhi, Oct 22 (Inditop.com) The decisive lead taken by the ruling Congress in the Haryana assembly poll led to scenes of frenzied celebrations inside and outside the party’s national headquarters here Thursday morning.
Congress workers from Haryana — which surrounds the national capital on three sides — reached the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters by mid-morning in one cavalcade after another, carrying large quantities of firecrackers which they set off in celebration.
As the supporters danced on the lawns of AICC headquarters and spilled over on New Delhi’s exclusive Akbar Road, they were chased by television crews who were beaming live from the spot. The result was a traffic snarl that tested the policemen, who were anyway nervous because the prime minister was in the vicinity, inaugurating a conference at Vigyan Bhavan.
