Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 29 (Inditop.com) Six-time Kerala legislator M.P.Gangadharan Thursday announced his return to the Congress party.

Addressing reporters here, Gangadharan, who served as minister (1982 to 1986) in the then Congress government, said it was a mistake and foolish of him to leave the Congress to join the Democratic Indira Congress-Karunakaran (DIC-K), set up by former chief minister K. Karunakaran.

“I have now been given the sanction by the national leadership of the Congress party to re-join the Congress party. And now that I am back, I have decided that even if the party asks me to contest elections, I won’t,” said 75-year-old Gangadharan.

In 2005, he had resigned as legislator and from the Congress to join Karunakaran’s party.

In 2006, Karunakaran decided to merge the DIC-K with Nationalist Congress Party. When Karunakaran decided to rejoin the Congress party in Dec 2007, Gangadharan stayed with the NCP.

Incidentally, this is the second time that Gangadharan has re-joined the Congress after having parted ways with it.
