Chandigarh, Oct 30 (Inditop.com) The Punjab government Friday said it will revive the Punjab Urdu Academy (PUA) in the state and recruit Urdu teachers in schools to promote the language.
Education and Languages Minister Upinderjit Kaur said Urdu was a rich literary language and played an important part during the country’s independence movement.
She said the PUA, which was lying defunct in Malerkotla town of Sangrur district, would be revived by allocating more funds to it.
Malerkotla area, 150 km from here, has a substantial Muslim population.
