New Delhi, Nov 12 (Inditop.com) The drop in temperature in the capital has been the result of a western disturbance and not because of the onset of winter, which is yet to arrive, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Thursday.
According to the IMD, the chill in the weather is also due to cyclonic rainfall on the south and west coasts.
“We can expect rainfall and thundershowers Friday that is likely to bring down maximum and minimum temperature in the national capital. But winter is yet to arrive,” IMD director B.P. Yadav told Inditop.
The day temperature Thursday so far was 25.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below average but the minimum temperature had been 15.6 degrees Celsius, four degrees above the normal.
The visibility dropped to 500 meters around 9:30 a.m. as mist hovered over Delhi.
According to airport officials, no flights were delayed.
