Jammu, April 19 (Inditop) At least two security personnel, including one army jawan, were killed in an ongoing gun battle with militants that began Sunday morning in a remote mountainous area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, police said.

“When specific information was received (about the presence of militants), the area around Kastigarh forest area was cordoned off to nab the militants present there,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Hemant Lohia said.

He said as the security forces were zeroing in on the militants, they came under heavy fire in which one soldier and one policeman were killed.

Security reinforcements have been deployed and the gun battle is on, Lohia said adding that at least two militants were holed up within the cordon.
