Jammu, Dec 3 (Inditop.com) More than 4,000 Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation employees called off their 100-day-old strike Thursday evening following assurances by the state government of redressal of their grievances.

Transport Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon told Inditop that the employees’ demand for the regular payment of their salaries would be looked into and implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission would depend on the future income of the corporation.

“I am hopeful that the employees would devote themselves whole heartedly in making the corporation profitable,” Akhoon said.

Abdul Rashid, an employee, said they were satisfied with the government decision. “At least, we will get our salary now,” he said.

The strike had brought the whole fleet of state-run buses and trucks to a halt for over three months.
