Madrid, Jan 12 (DPA) Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo announced late Monday that his club had finally clinched the signing of young Argentine winger Eduardo Salvio.

Atletico will pay Buenos Aires club Lanus around 8 million euros ($11.53 millions) for the 19-year-old winger.

Salvio will arrive here Friday for medical checks, then will sign a five-year contract with Atletico, who are 11th in the Spanish Liga.

Atletico have been the most active Spanish club in the January transfer window. They have sold striker Florent Sinama Pongolle to Sporting Lisbon, are about to sell winger Maxi Rodriguez to Liverpool, and have taken midfielder Tiago on loan from Juventus.
