Chandigarh, Jan 13 (Inditop.com) Residents of Punjab, Haryana and their joint capital Chandigarh took full advantage of the short spells of sunshine between showers Wednesday. The weatherman has forecast an increase in day’s temperature and more rainfall in the next few days.

The residents, who were experiencing cold wave conditions for last one week, got some relief as the day started with a mild sunshine. There were also isolated spells of rain, easing out the dense morning fog.

Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.

Punjab’s Amritsar city was again the coldest in the region with a minimum temperature of 4.2 degrees Celsius. Ludhiana and Patiala cities of Punjab recorded 7.2 and 6 degrees Celsius respectively.

“There were isolated spells of rain at various parts of Punjab and Haryana, which have brought respite from dense fog and overcast conditions. We are expecting more rainfall in the next 48 hours,” a met official said.

“Our department has predicted an increase of three to five degrees Celsius in the day’s temperature while the night’s temperature will remain stable. Despite this rise, weather will remain chilling due to the presence of intense cold wave in the atmosphere of this region.”

In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal recorded minimum temperature of 4.9, 7.8 and 6.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
