New Delhi, Jan 19 (Inditop.com) Delhiites woke up to a relatively warmer Tuesday with a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius which was a notch above average. However, the shallow fog continued to affect rail services with 34 trains being cancelled because of the poor visibility.
According to a Northern Railways spokesperson, eight trains were rescheduled, 38 delayed and 34 cancelled because of the fog and poor visibility Tuesday.
“Among the trains which have been rescheduled are the Northeast Express and the Poorva Express. Thirty eight trains, which include the Jhelum Express and the Rajdhani Express, are running late by more than three hours and 34 trains like the Taj Express have been cancelled,” a Northern Railways spokesperson told Inditop.
An official at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said: “As a result of the fog, the general visibility this morning at around 9 a.m. was 500 metres. The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above average”.
“With the prevailing winds, the fog has now cleared up. It is going to be a relatively warm day with the daytime temperature expected to hover around 18.9 degrees,” the official said.
The fog also resulted in flight disruptions at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.
