New Delhi, Jan 31 (Inditop.com) CBI special director S.C. Sinha, a 1975 Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, is tipped to be the second chief of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), succeeding R.V. Raju who retired Sunday, government sources here said.
Sinha’s name is understood to have been cleared by the home ministry and forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for confirmation.
An official announcement is expected soon.
Sinha’s tenure is expected to be till Oct 31, 2013.
Raju, who was given a free hand to put in place the logistics and a core NIA team, may move to the Central Vigilance Commission.
