Mumbai, Feb 6 (Inditop.com) A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets which opened 11 a.m. Saturday for a 90-minute special trading session ended 124 points higher than its previous close.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened at 15,807.75 points and shut shop at 15,915.65 points, up 124.72 points or 0.79 percent from its previous close at 15,790.93 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was at 4,766.95 points, against the previous close at 4,718.65 points, a gain of 1.02 percent or 48.3 points.
Broader markets were in the green as well the BSE midcap index closing 1.4 percent up and the BSE small cap index 1.54 percent higher.
The two major bourses, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), were conducting a special 90-minute trading session Saturday to test NSE’s upgraded systems.
All 13 BSE sectoral indices were in the green, with realty, metal, energy, and IT scrips gaining the most.
The market breadth was positive, with 1,927 stocks advancing against 609 scrips declining and 46 remaining unchanged.
Of the 30 scrips listed on the Sensex, 28 ended in the green.
The top gainers included Hindalco, up 2.39 percent at Rs.141.40; Jaiprakash Associates, up 2.24 percent at Rs.128.05; Sterlite Industries, up 749.25, and DLF, up 1.6 percent at Rs.314.40.
The two losers were Hero Honda, down 0.24 percent at Rs.1,582.40, and Bharti Airtel, which lost a meagre 0.03 percent to close at Rs.300.20.
