Kolkata, Feb 17 (Inditop.com) Heavy overnight rain delayed the start of the fourth day’s play of the second cricket Test between South Africa and India by 93 minutes with 13 less overs to be bowled here Wednesday.
The match, slated to have an early start at 8.57 a.m. to accommodate five extra overs that had not been bowled on the third day Tuesday, could not start on time due to the wet outfield.
Under very overcast conditions, the umpires Ian Gould and Steve Davies carried out two inspections at 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m. and decided on a delayed start at 10.30 a.m.
The pre-lunch session will be a truncated hour-long one and a total of 82 overs will be bowled during the day.
The umpired had Tuesday decided that 95 overs will be played on the fourth day.
The city was lashed by 15.5 mm of rain since Tuesday night, making the ground soggy.
The met office has forecast more rain during the day.
