New Delhi, Feb 18 (Inditop.com) The Union Cabinet Thursday approved a project to computerise administration of commercial taxes in states.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni said the project with an overall cost of Rs.1,133 crore will help states to develop and upgrade information technology systems in their commercial taxes administration.

She said the focus of the project was to provide improved set of services to the dealers and improve efficiency of the commercial taxes administration of state governments.

Commercial taxes are the largest revenue sources for the states, often constituting up to two-thirds of their revenue.
