Bhubaneswar, Feb 20 (Inditop.com) The Kalinga Sena, a fringe outfit in Orissa, Saturday again threatened to disrupt the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Cuttack until Australian cricketers were barred from playing.
This was one of its four demands. It said the state cricket authorities had agreed to sell tickets from bank counters, but ignored the other three demands, including barring the Australians.
“Our activists will disrupt the matches if our demands are not met,” said Kalinga Sena president Hemant Rath. “Our students are attacked in Australia. How can we allow Australians to play?”
Kalinga Sena also wants that cheer leaders should not perform at the matches and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) must explain the non-inclusion of Orissa players in the East Zone Duleep Trophy.
In view of the threat, the OCA has assured maximum security to all players in the IPL.
The Deccan Chargers take on Kings XI Punjab March 19 and Delhi Daredevils March 21 at Cuttack’s Barabati stadium.
