London, Feb 24 (Inditop.com) Women convincingly beat men in a five-month online game that tests general knowledge, an official said.

Women came out on top of a worldwide online game of Trivial Pursuit in which millions of players had their general knowledge tested, Daily Express reported Wednesday.

Katreena Lines, global senior marketing manager of Trivial Pursuit, said: “The online battle of the sexes experiment invited people worldwide to compete for the ultimate bragging rights – to be a member of the smartest team.”

“The online experience invited everyone to show off their inner genius, by answering 1, 10 or 100 questions a day, in support of their team. Our congratulations to the women who fought hard for the win,” she was quoted as saying.

Women won the title after �correctly answering a total of 4,088,139 questions, compared to 4,077,596 correctly answered by men.

Women hit pay dirt in the categories of entertainment (56.8 percent) and science and nature (54.4 percent), but struggled with questions from the people and places category, answering just 41.7 percent correctly.

Men’s best categories were science and nature (57 percent) followed closely by entertainment (56.7 percent) while and sports and leisure got 54.8 percent.

They performed the poorest when answering geography and people and places questions, with only 49.9 percent answering correctly.
