Hyderabad, April 17 (Inditop.com) The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to develop a park on a 20-acre plot in Hyderabad in memory of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The park will come up close to the Imax theatre near the picturesque Hussain Sagar lake in the heart of the city, Municipal Administration Minister Anam Ramnayarana Reddy told reporters Saturday, adding that five companies would prepare the design for the park.

The construction work will begin before Sep 2, Rajasekhara Reddy’s first death anniversary.

YSR, as Rajasekhara Reddy was popularly known, his secretary, his chief security officer and two pilots were killed when the chopper carrying them from Hyderabad to Chittoor district crashed in bad weather in Kurnool district Sep 2, 2009.

The government has also decided to develop a memorial at Pavuralagutta in the Nallamalla forests of Kurnool district, where the chopper had crashed. The minister said private land would also be acquired for the memorial.

The state cabinet had last year cleared a proposal to develop a YSR memorial on 1,412 hectares of land at a cost of Rs.3.15 crore. The memorial is proposed to have a four km trekking track to the accident site on a hillock, a peacock breeding centre and an elephant sanctuary.

A third memorial for YSR would be built at Idupulapaya, his family estate in Kadapa district where he was laid to rest. This memorial will come up on 6.7 hectares, the minister said.
