New Delhi, July 29 (IANS) Air India and Jet Airways have lost Rs.127 crore due to strikes by their employees since last year, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said in the Lok Sabha Thursday.
‘Estimated loss suffered by National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL) on account of these strikes was around Rs.77 crore,’ Patel informed the Lok Sabha.
In May this year, two unions of the erstwhile Indian Airlines, All India Aircraft Engineers’ Association (AIAEA) and Air Corporations Employees’ Union (ACEU), had gone on a flash strike.
In September last, Air India’s executive pilots had stopped the work by reporting sick en-mass after the airline proposed a cut in their flying allowance.
Also in September, pilots of private sector airline Jet Airways had struck by reporting sick.
