Bengaluru, July 21 (IANS) Attrition of techies in Infosys Ltd declined 9.2 percent to 14.2 percent in first quarter (April-June) of this fiscal (2015-16) from 23.4 percent in like period a year ago (2014-15), the software major said on Tuesday.

“Quarterly annualised attrition declined to 14.2 percent in first quarter of this fiscal (FY 2016) from 23.4 percent in same quarter of last fiscal (FY 2015) on standalone basis for the parent company,” Infosys said in a statement here.
Attrition, however, declined by 7.2 percent on annualised basis to 19.2 percent in the quarter under review (Q1) from 26.4 percent on consolidated basis, including subsidiaries the world over.
Though Infosys hired (gross addition) 11,889 people in first quarter, net addition was only 3,336 as 8,553 techies left during last three months, taking the total number of employees to 179,523 by June end, as against 176,187 quarter ago and 161,284 year ago.
Sequentially, attrition declined to 14.2 percent marginally in Q1 from 13.4 percent quarter ago on standalone but increased to 19.2 percent from 18.3 percent quarter ago on consolidated basis.
“Utilization excluding trainees expanded sequentially by 160 basis points to 80.2 percent from 78.6 percent and including trainees to 75.7 percent from 72.8 percent quarter ago,” the statement added.
