Mumbai, Sep 29 (IANS) German car maker Audi Wednesday launched a petrol variant of its sports utility vehicle Q7, priced at Rs.59.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) to consolidate its position in the luxury SUV space in India.
Deliveries for this new variant would begin in January 2011.
‘We are confident that it will further help us consolidate our leadership position in the luxury SUV space,’ said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
According to the company, the new variant employs the TFSI technology which enables the engine to combine supercharging as well as direct petrol injection into the engine, there by providing more power.
‘The Audi Q7 now demonstrates even greater efficiency, with a new engine, a new transmission and a whole series of new performance characteristics,’ Perschke said.
The car also sports new 8-speed automatic transmission which would reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
Currently, the luxury car brand offers Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8.
